Who is Heather?
A random voice in an ever-expanding cacophony of internet voices, my journey into the world of technology began in the mid-90s when I found myself updating my mom’s computer from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. As I installed the new operating system, I realized that I was actually enjoying the process and thought to myself, “Hey, this is kind of fun!” It was a small moment, but it set me on a path that would shape the rest of my life.
After installing Windows 95, I found an AOL CD lying around the house and decided to give the internet a try. From that point on, it was love at first byte. Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it certainly sparked a passion that has continued to burn bright to this day.

No Really. That didn’t really answer the question.
I am a seasoned technical professional with almost 30 years of experience. My expertise spans software development, project management, and IT consulting.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am an advocate for mental health and a dedicated mentor, committed to fostering growth and resilience within the tech community. I am fueled by a passion for using technology to create meaningful impact.

Over-the-top Kind Words from a Former Coworker
… you are one wickedly talented lady. You’re still reputed for your skills and for being a workhorse powerhouse.
You have basically transcended into being an office cryptid – a long-gone employee of legend whose reach was far and deep, so you still come across their name on so many things. There are still so many attributes/functions that bear your initials that we are dedicated to preserving. “Who is HM?” the newbies ask. “One of the best developers we ever had” is still what we tell them.

Arts & Crafts & Cats

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time making things. I enjoy working with a mix of creative mediums, from drawing and painting to small hands-on craft projects. Creative work gives me a way to think differently, slow down, and explore ideas without a deadline or a brief attached. It also tends to bleed back into my professional work in good ways, especially when it comes to problem-solving and design thinking.
I also share my space with a couple of cats, who are constant background characters in daily life and occasional assistants in any creative or technical project. They are a reminder to take breaks, stay curious, and not take things too seriously.

ADHD
I was diagnosed late in life with ADHD. You may find some writings about ADHD in my blog from time to time. Just keep in mind I am by no means an expert. And I cannot speak for everyone with ADHD. Everyone is different. Different things work for different people. People don’t fall into a box and stay there.
